COLORADO SPRINGS. Six months ago, the Diocese of Colorado Springs announced the good news that a generous benefactor had donated a free year’s subscription to "FORMED.org" for every parish in the diocese. (See Feb. 19, 2016 issue of the Herald) Since then, many parishioners have taken advantage of the opportunity, and now they can enjoy an enhanced service.

COLORADO SPRINGS. Dr. John Jackson and his wife Rebecca Jackson are most well-known for their extensive work on the Shroud of Turin, as co-founders of the Turin Shroud Center of Colorado. However, on May 19, attendees of the Mariological Society of America Conference in Colorado Springs had the opportunity to learn about the Jacksons’ research on a series of Marian apparitions in Zeitoun, Egypt from April 1968 until 1971.

COLORADO SPRINGS. After 35 years as pastor of Holy Apostles Parish, Father Paul Wicker has been granted retirement. Members of Holy Apostles as well as those of the other two parishes where he serves as pastor — St. Michael in Calhan and St. Benedict in Falcon — are preparing to celebrate his tenure on May 22, with help from other area churches.

CASTLE ROCK. Local family members and friends gathered on Feb. 13 to celebrate Gene and Marge Nelson of Castle Rock, who were selected by Worldwide Marriage Encounter as the longest married couple for the state of Colorado in the sixth annual "Longest Married Couple Project." The Nelsons, who are 99 and 98 years old, were married on Oct. 30, 1936, and have been married for 79 years.
